Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 08 March 2024:
We had another overcast day with some rain in the morning but luckily it cleared up by the time we launched. Shortly after leaving the harbour we were lucky to encounter several Bryde’s whale feeding close to Danger Point. After we spent some time with the whales we continued and saw a couple of seabirds before we reached Geyser Rock, home to the Cape fur seals. We slowly cruised along the colony and got to see thousands of them before continuing our journey over to Dyer Island. At the island we saw some of our coastal seabirds and the endangered African Penguin. Back in shallower water along the coast we stopped at the shark cage diving boat for the Bronze Whales sharks and cruised along the coast back to Kleinbaai harbour.
