Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 08 October 2024:
After a super windy day and some high swells that kept us from heading out to sea, we are back and ready for a full day packed with amazing sights! We did not waste time and started the day early. We welcomed our guests aboard, leaving Kleinbaai Harbour behind us, looking for some marine mammals and wildlife. Heading further into our bay we started our lookout and were soon met by some great sightings of Bronze whaler sharks around Marine Dynamics Shak cage diving vessel Slashfin. Throughout the day we were able to find some Southern Right whales close to shore or around reef and island system. On some trips, we even got to spot a pod of Common dolphins heading alongside the boat and even a Bryde’s whale made a quick appearance! Ready to head into Shark Alley thousands of Cape fur seals including numerous big bulls that have made it back were seen on either Gesyer Rock or in the cool waters of the alley. A stop around Dyer Island is a must and we were able to see some of its inhabitants including the endangered African Penguins on top of the island or as rafts in the open. What an exciting day out at sea!
