Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 10 June 2025:
We are ready for another day at sea! The conditions have improved, with little swell and only a chilly southerly wind. Leaving Kleinbaai Harbour behind us, we covered different areas on both trips, including deeper waters, the island system, The Shallows, as well as coastal areas. Today included Bryde’s whale sightings and sunfish sightings in deeper waters. On the second trip, we even encountered the first southern right whale of this year, most likely passing our area on its way further east! The island system being a mandatory stop, we visited both Geyser Rock and Dyer Island. The Cape fur seal colony did not disappoint as the island was full of curious but also sleepy seals. On Dyer Island, a few of the critically endangered African Penguins could be seen on top of the island or close to their nests. Active Bronze whaler sharks circled the boat and cage around the Marine Dynamics Shark cage diving vessel within the Shallows, which granted some incredible looks at this amazing species.

What species did we see today?
