Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 11 January

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 11 January 2026:

The conditions today were good with little swell and just a light breeze, and partly cloudy. After stopping to see the Bronze Whaler sharks, the ocean seemed a bit quiet, but once we spotted a whale, we found more Bryde’s whales and numerous common dolphins, as well as feeding birds. After so much excitement, we continued to the Cape fur seal colony and Dyer Island. After a fantastic day out on the water, we returned to Kleinbaai harbour.
