Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 11 October 2025:
Another successful day has come to an end. Due to the spring tide still continuing, our earlier trips launched or returned to Gansbaai Harbour, taking us around the iconic Danger Point. The sightings today were again wonderful, with many Southern right whale pairs close to shore off Uilenkraalsmond closely investigating the vessel. A few trips even witnessed Humpback whales, with impressive breaches, as often displayed with this acrobatic species. Further down the coastline, we made a turn past the shark cage diving boats and were lucky to see some Bronze Whaler sharks. Some tours managed to see penguins at sea, while all were able to spot a penguin or two on Dyer Island. Early morning, most seals were on Geyser Rock, and later during the day, the famous waters of Shark Alley filled up with many having a swim.

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.
