Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 15 March 2022:
After a couple of days on land, the crew was very excited to head to sea today! After a stop at the shark cage diving boats, we were heading towards Pearly Beach, which was filled with life. We had a few shoals of fish, plenty of seabirds and at least five Bryde’s whales around. The whales took some long dives, probably feeding on the small fish but we still managed to see them a few times when they surfaced for air. While busy watching all the wildlife around we spotted a pod of common dolphins approaching, how wonderful. After having had such a great time in the Pearly Beach area we continued moving towards the famous Shark Alley to see Cape fur seals and also passed Dyer Island on our way home.

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.

With an 'hourgalss' patch on either side and aerial activity the common dolphin is an agile and majestic species, that may easily reach a speed of 40km/h.
