Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 15 November 2023:
What a beautiful day we had today! Hardly any wind and a calm sea with 4 of the Marine Big 5 spotted. Leaving Kleinbaai Harbour behind we cruised along the coastal areas to find some Southern Right whales. We did not get disappointed! Some of our guests were even lucky enough to have seen a Southern Right whale breach! Letting the whales be, we have seen the beautiful Bronze whaler sharks around the Shark cage diving vessels, Cape fur seals on Geyser Rock, and African Penguins on Dyer Island. One trip was fortunate enough to have seen this endangered species up close as a raft nearby.

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
Bronze Whaler Shark Bronze Whaler Shark
The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.
