Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 16 November 2025:
Leaving Kleinbaai Harbour behind us, rather early today due to the wind picking up in the afternoon, we headed towards the Shallows. Around the local shark-cage-diving boats, we encountered some Bronze whaler sharks investigating divers in the cages. Heading towards Pearly Beach, we spotted some Southern Right whales in the swell. Some were enjoying it so much that we even got to see some of the individuals breaching! Towards the end, we made our way towards the island system where Cape fur seals were gathered on Geyser Rock and swimming alongside our vessel while heading up and down Shark Alley. Due to the higher swell around Dyer Island, we were not able to get too close, but still got some looks at the critically endangered African Penguins from a distance.
