Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 20 April 2025:
The sky was overcast, and we did experience some drizzle, but we still enjoyed the tour and sightings. We launched from Kleinbaai harbour mid-morning and started our journey along the coast past the estuary and further down the shallow waters. On the other side of the bay, in what is often called the Shallows, we stopped to see the Bronze Whaler shark at our cage diving vessel. Further off the coastline, we stopped at Dyer Island to see the penguins and continued to see the Cape fur seals shortly after. Not long after we left the Cape fur seal colony behind, we spotted a spout of a Bryde’s whale. The weather out in the deep was a bit more up and down, but we managed to get a few looks at the whale.
