Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 22 July

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 22 July 2026:

Another day well spent here at Marine Dynamic. Throughout the day, we’ve had some amazing sightings of three whale species in the bay. A Southern right whale was seen cruising along the coastline with her young one. In deeper waters, the elusive Bryde’s whale and acrobatic Humpback whale were seen. On Dyer Island, the African penguins stood right on the boulders where everyone could see their beautiful tuxedos, with the Cape fur seals splashing in the water as they usually do in Shark Alley. The Bronze whaler sharks were seen throughout the day, adding some fin-tastic magic to today’s sightings.
