Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 23 February

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 23 February 2023:

Shortly after leaving Kleinbaai harbour we spotted thousands of Cape Cormorants, many penguins, and a Bryde’s whale. What a great start to the trip! Along the coast we stopped briefly at the estuary Uilenkraalsmond and visited the shark cage diving boat to see the Bronze whaler sharks. After passing a reef system and in the deeper waters of the bay we spotted more whales. We also stopped at Dyer Island to see the penguins’ home and were lucky to see more of the African Penguin on the island. After a visit to the Cape fur seal colony, we made our way around Danger Point into Gansbaai harbour.
