Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 24 August 2026:
What a beautiful day out on the ocean! With plenty of sunshine, little wind and calm sea conditions, it was the perfect day for a Marine Big 5 adventure. Throughout the day, our guests were treated to sightings of a variety of marine wildlife. We spotted African penguins, watched Cape fur seals enjoying the waters around the islands, and encountered bronze whaler sharks near the shark cage diving boats. To top it all off, whales were also spotted cruising through the coastal waters. A truly memorable day filled with sunshine, wildlife and unforgettable moments on the ocean.

What species did we see today?

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.

The mysterious Bryde's whales visit the Dyer Island area throughout the year, with most sightings occurring during summer into winter.
