Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 24 February 2023:
After a few minutes’ drive along the coast, we stopped at Uilenkraalsmond estuary and spotted plenty of box jellyfish in the water. Further along the coast, we stopped again for the Bronze whaler sharks we got to see at Slashfin the shark cage diving boat. It was quiet out in the deep to the southeast of Dyer Island so we made a stop there to see penguins among the thousands of Cape Cormorants. We also passed the Cape fur seal colony on Geyser Rock before returning to deeper waters behind the islands. Towards Danger Point, we have been lucky to spot a Bryde’s whale several times before heading home to Kleinbaai harbour.

What species did we see today?
