Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 02 April 2023:
All our trips today had some fantastic sightings! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the 60,000-strong Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock as they put on quite a show! We were lucky enough to spot the endangered African Penguins out on the water and on Dyer Island throughout the day! By our shark cage diving boats we got a great look at the beautiful Bronze Whaler sharks. During the day we also got some bonus sightings of a Sunfish (Mola Mola), Albatross and Short-Tail stingray! All in all, a great day out at sea and we thank all those who joined us today.

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.
Cape fur seal Cape fur seal
With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
