Mating southern right whales! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog
Written by August 22 2021
Although we had some westerly wind, we had a fantastic time at sea. Our tour started with a Bryde’s whale just southeast off Danger Point. After having had some good views of the often known as shy and elusive Bryde’s whale we continued to Geyser Rock. Thereafter we stopped in Sponge Bay close to Dyer Island to see some of the endangered African Penguin. Arrived in Pearly Beach we quickly found some southern right whales in a mating group. The whales were truly relaxed alongside next to our vessel and even approached as we were floating there in neutral, what a special experience.
What species did we see today?
