Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 28 February

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 28 February 2026:

We welcomed our guests on Whale Whisperer this morning, ready to head out to sea. Leaving Kleinbaai Harbour behind us, we made our way into deeper waters first, before making our way towards the island system. A short stop around Dyer Island gave us some nice looks at our critically endangered African Penguins. The Cape fur seal colony on Geyser Rock was quite busy today, and as always, leaving our guests in awe. Just after leaving Shark Alley, we spotted a Bryde’s whale. Due to it surfacing a few times, we could also get some nice views of it. Heading further into our bay, we approached our Shark cage diving vessel, Slashfin, for a glimpse of our beloved Bronze whaler sharks.
