Bryde’s Whale! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 27 January
Written by January 27 2022
Today was overcast, with a slight breeze but beautifully calm seas. On our way along the coast, we spotted some Ostrich as well as an African Penguin. The bronze whaler sharks around the cage diving boats were quite active, and we got some great looks at the species. Further out in deeper waters, we came across a sunfish and a group of Cape fur seals before spotting a spout of a Bryde’s whale. We had a couple of closer looks at the whale before heading to Geyser Rock and Dyer Island.

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.
