Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 01 October 2023:
Happy Sunday to everyone, and it was a happy Sunday indeed. We launched quite early today and didn’t regret it. All our tours were able to witness some incredible whale activity out in our bay. The wind did pick up as the day progressed, but the Southern Right whales we encountered made up for a bit of wind. We saw quite a few different individuals of Southern Right whales and were even able to enjoy watching some whales breaching which is always a treat! The finale for the day was the sighting of a Brindle Southern Right whale, which is a nearly all-white pigmented whale, which with time and age will darken, this is seen in only approximately 4% of the population. And as always, we didn’t forget to visit Shark Alley to enjoy some Cape Fur seals and try to find some African penguins on Dyer Island.
All in all, an incredible day out at sea! Thanks to all who joined us on our marine adventure!
