Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 02 March

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 02 April 2023:

We had a sunny day filled wit a lot of sightings. Shortly after we left Kleinbaai harbour we spotted a lot of Cape Cormorants sitting out at sea and shortly after a small pod of the Indian Ocean humpback dolphins. At the shark cage diving boats we stopped at Marine Dynamics where we saw a few of the Bronze whaler sharks. Out in the deeper waters, we came across several patches of feeding birds that were trying to catch some smaller bait fish that has been pushed to the surface through some yellowtail. We also passed by the Cape fur seal colony and stopped to see the endangered African Penguin at Dyer Island. Before heading back we once again covered some deeper waters towards Danger Point and were lucky to spot a friendly Bryde’s whale. What a beautiful trip out at sea that we will cherish for a long time.
