Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 04 October 2023:
As the days slowly become warmer we are always happy to be out at sea to enjoy some fresh air. Our day started with quite a bit of wind out there but as the day progressed the wind did calm down. We had some fantastic sightings of Southern Right whales on all of our tours, and these whales are still in abundance in our bay! On the first trip of the day, we were incredibly lucky to see some action like fluking out in the distance as we were approaching the animals, and on the second trip quite a few breaches from these impressive, but gentle giants. During the third and fourth trips, the whales exhibited some stunning surface behaviours as well and all enjoyed beautiful views of the Southern Right whales. For each of our tours today, we made a visit to the world-famous Shark Alley to spend some time with the Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock and find some African penguins on Dyer Island along with a quick visit to the shark cage diving area to see some Bronze Whaler sharks.
An absolutely incredible day for Dyer Island Cruises and we thank everyone who decided to join us today!
