Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 14 March

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 14 March 2026:

It was an overcast day but filled with wonderful sightings of all of the Marine Big 5. The trip out of Kleinbaai harbour started with three humpback dolphins in the surf close to Uilenkraalsmond. Next, we spent some time around the shark cage diving boats and were lucky to see a Bronze Whaler shark.  Closer to Dyer Island, we saw the critically endangered African Penguin, Cape Cormorants and visited the Cape fur seal colony at Geyser Rock. To our luck, it was shortly after heading out into the deeper waters that we encountered some Bryde’s Whales.
