Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 18 January 2023:
A mist blanketed the bay this morning giving our time out on the sea an eerie feeling however apart from the mist it was a very pleasant day with some fantastic sea conditions. The first trip of the day enjoyed views of the Bronze whaler sharks around the shark cage diving vessels, and a visit to the islands to view the Endangered African penguins and the ever-abundant Cape fur seals. We spent quite some time in the deeper waters of the bay searching for any whales that might be passing. On the second trip of the day we unfortunately did not get to see any sharks however we were lucky enough to encounter a Bryde’s whale in the deeper waters behind the island system.
