Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 22 June 2024:
Today we had a light breeze and some swell rolling through the bay but the sun was peaking through the clouds. We launched from Kleinbaai with two tours and spotted a Southern Right whale pair on both trips right away! As usual, we stopped by Marine Dynamics Shark cage diving vessel Slashfin where we got a glimpse of some Bronze whaler sharks. Heading over to the island system due to swell we could unfortunately not get too close to Dyer Island. Nonetheless, we got lucky and encountered a raft of some endangered African Penguins on the first and second trip! A stop by Geyser Rock could of course not be missed. Entering Shark Alley we were greeted by several seals in the water and numerous on the island. On the second trip, we got lucky to have also spotted a Bryde’s whale! Once again, thanks everyone for joining our Marine Big 5 tours!
