Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 24 September 2026:
We had another great day at sea with some wind and wonderful sightings of southern right whales. Close to Kleinbaai harbour and Uilenkraalsmond, we saw multiple southern right whales close to shore. We watched them surfacing and even got to see one slapping the flippers onto the surface. Around the shark cage diving boats it was still quiet, but we had some fantastic views of the Cape fur seal on Geyser Rock. Later in the day we even spotted the elephant seal at the colony, great to see him still around. Closer to Dyer Island we saw some of the critically endangered African penguins as well as other coastal birds.
