Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 25 February

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 25 February 2026:

The bay was filled with life in the deeper waters. We spotted plenty of coastal and pelagic seabirds, including the African Penguin, which were surrounded by hundreds of common dolphins and Cape fur seals. In between all these feeding animals, we spotted a Bryde’s whale spout that surfaced a few times. At Geyser Rock, we saw many more Cape Fur seals and on Dyer Island, some penguins. Closer to the coast and at the shark cage diving boats, we saw the Bronze Whaler shark.
