Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 26 September 2023:
We were back on sea again today after a wet and wild two days previous that kept us off the bay. The trips launched in the afternoon with the sun shining and some favorable sea conditions along with some wonderful sightings. The whales appeared to not be disturbed by the heavy weather conditions over the last few days nor by the colour of the water in the bay due to the heavy run-off. We spent the afternoon viewing multiple individuals including a pair of adults who appeared very active as they interacted with each other. The trips enjoyed some time around the island system, viewing the ever-plentiful and playful Cape fur seals along with trying to spot the endangered African penguins. The trips were rounded out with a quick visit by our sister company, Marine Dynamics, who were busy out in the bay with shark cage diving and having a successful day with Bronze whaler shark sightings along with a Short-tail stingray.
