Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 26 September 2022:
A beautiful day out at sea gave us a bay full of wonderful sightings! With at least 6 cow-calf Southern Right Whale pairs encountered in the bay, we had some fantastic sightings of these amazing animals. We were fortunate to have seen some beautiful Bronze Whaler shark activity around the cage diving vessel just as the rain started on our first trip. Luckily, the rain had passed just as quickly as it had arrived as we made our way toward the islands. Dyer island gave us some great looks at the African Penguins and over at Geyser Rock, the cape fur seals were having a blast in the water and on land too!

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.

Southern right whales attract thousands of visitors every year to experience these gentle giants off the South African coast.
African Penguin African Penguin
As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.
Cape fur seal Cape fur seal
With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
