Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 27 September 2022:
A beautiful day at sea brought us multiple amazing sightings of 4 of the Marine Big 5! The Southern Right whales gave us a spectacular show in the bay, having seen 6 cow-calf pairs throughout the day. The shark cage diving vessels gave us some great looks at the Bronze Whaler sharks around the cage and over at Geyser Rock we experienced the bustle of the Cape fur seal colony as they enjoyed the sun and being in the waters of Shark Alley. The African Penguins on Dyer Island were all basking in the sun when we made our way towards the island and trip one even got a glimpse of a penguin in the water!

Southern right whales attract thousands of visitors every year to experience these gentle giants off the South African coast.
African Penguin African Penguin
As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
