Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 29 September 2022:
Four wonderful trips today brought us some amazing wildlife, with 4 of the Marine Big 5 spotted throughout the day. Our trips were all fortunate to have had beautiful sightings of the Southern Right whales in the bay. Our sightings included Southern Right whale cow-calf pairs displaying breaching and lobtailing behaviour. We also witnessed some incredible Bronze Whaler action around our shark cage diving vessel, Slashfin. By Dyer Island, we spotted numerous African Penguins on land and on some of our trips were even lucky enough to spot them in the water! In Shark Alley, we enjoyed the 60,000-strong Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock which thrilled our guests and crew with their inquisitive nature!

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.
