Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 07 August 2022:
With two trips out at sea today, a little wind did not stop us from having some phenomenal sightings! Across both trips today, we were fortunate to have encountered numerous Southern Right whale individuals. Trip 1 saw 5 adult individuals while trip 2 got some incredible looks at 3 adults just cruising by the boat. Geyser Rock did not disappoint, with some lovely Cape Fur seal action on and around the island and on Dyer Island, it was a little tricky to spot some African Penguins but we got some glimpses of a few at the top of the island. The Bronze whaler sharks dazzled us around the shark cage diving vessels and on our way back to the harbour, trip 1 even got a lucky sighting of an African Penguin raft out and about!

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.

Southern right whales attract thousands of visitors every year to experience these gentle giants off the South African coast.
African Penguin African Penguin
As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
