Sharks so nice we went there twice, Eco tour 26 January 2020
Written by Dickie Chivell, January 27 2020
Sharks are friends not food!
Bronze whaler sharks are also known as copper sharks or in some places narrow tooth sharks are unfortunately still fished commercially and sold as fish and chips called ‘flake’ in places like Australia with many people having no clue that, that is actually what they are eating. We always try to show that these sharks are amazing animals and on this tour we made a point of it to stop and watch them twice. Of course we also saw some great seals and penguins and had a lovely cruise around our beautiful bay of Kleinbaai. We picked up some kelp and had a great time with the clients and their curious minds as we are always happy to engage and answer any questions as we believe Conservation goes hand in hand with Education! Thanks guys it was great having you on board!
What species did we see today?

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.
Cape Cormorant Cape Cormorant
One of the most famous species of Cormorant in the Western Cape, the Cape Cormorant is well known for it's beautiful turquoise eye and impressive size.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
