Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 08 June 2022:
Such a lovely trip on board Whale Whisperer today with beautiful calm seas. Our first sighting of the trip was at our shark cage diving vessel where we were able to glimpse both Bronze Whaler sharks and a Short-tail stingray around the cage! We then headed out into deeper water where we were incredibly lucky to come across two Southern Right whales who comfortably cruised alongside our boat for quite some time! We then headed to Shark Alley where we could enjoy our 60,000 strong Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock. Up next was Dyer Island where we were able to spot numerous endangered African Penguins. As we began making our way back to the harbour we noticed some activity on the surface of the water. Upon closer investigation, we found a bait ball which had attracted various diving birds such as Tern, Cape Gannets and even some African Penguins, as well as some Cape Fur seals! We were then surprised by a shy Bryde’s whale in the distance to round off our Marine Big 5 trip today.
