Whales, sharks, seals and endangered penguins! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 11 April
Written by April 11 2022
Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 11 April 2022:
We had some wonderful weather with a little wind as we launched from the harbour this morning. We made our way along the coastline and it wasn’t long before we spotted a sunfish. As we made our way into deeper waters, we spotted a few pelagic bird species such as Terns, Cape Gannets, Sooty Shearwaters, White Chinned Petrels as well as Giant Petrels. Geyser Rock was bustling with Cape Fur Seals and we spotted a few African Penguins on Dyer Island. On our way back towards Kleinbaai Harbour, we were lucky enough to come across a juvenile Bryde’s whale and a raft of penguins too!
